Come celebrate with us in Montreal...

Dear friends and family,

Thank you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Montreal. We hope you get a chance to enjoy the city and love it as much as we do. Our festivities will consist of a welcome reception on Friday evening on a beautiful rooftop terrasse in the Old Port with wonderful views of the city. The big celebration will be on Saturday evening at an ambient restaurant where we will eat, drink and dance. We are delighted to share this celebration with you!

Love,

Planning your stay

Where

The welcome reception on Friday will take place in the Old Port of Montreal, Montreal's historic area. The Saturday festivities are in a different neighborhood that is around a 10-15-minute ride away from Old Port/Downtown via taxi or Uber.

Hotels

There are many lovely hotels in the Old Port of Montreal as well as downtown, and Airbnbs and homeshares are also available throughout the city. Hotel William Gray and its affiliated hotels offer our guests a discounted rate, which you can access using this link: Gray Collection - Reservations - Hotel Availability

Getting Around

Montreal is pretty easy to get around: many parts of the city are walkable, there is good public transit, and taxi and Uber. Note that there is only Uber (no Lyft) in terms of rideshare.

Any updates will be posted on this website. We will also add some additional information about things to see and do in Montreal closer to the date.

Airport

Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is Montreal's airport.

Things to keep in mind

Montreal weather. It can be a little variable at the end of May, so do check the forecast before packing. The Friday reception will be on an outdoor terrasse that can be enclosed if the weather is not good. The Saturday event is indoors.

Attire. Semi formal for both events.

Dietary Restrictions. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions when you RSVP so we can inform both venues and make sure there is appropriate food for you.

Gifts. We know the cost of attending a destination wedding and your presence is the gift. We do not have a wedding registry.

Some favorite things to do:

  • Wandering around the Old Port.
  • Wandering around Mile End and Outremont (ex Fairmount St, Bernard St, St-Viateur St, Laurier St).
  • Walking up Mt Royal to the lookout, which has an amazing view of the city. (can also drive/take a cab to the main parking lot, and it is a short flat walk to the lookout from there)
  • Jean Talon Market is a little out of the way but a very happy place with stalls and great food options.
  • Museums: Fine Art Museum, Pointe-à-Callière (Museum of Archaeology and History). McCord Museum is the Montreal history museum but the exhibits change, so it is worth checking what it is first. It has a great gift/souvenir shop of Montreal things. It is right next to the McGill Gates, you could walk through those and see the main campus.
  • For a classic poutine: La Banquise.
  • Downtown is not on this list because it is kind of boring and kind of could be anywhere.

*Note:

  • Spots tend to fill up in the good restaurants, it is a good idea to make reservations even for brunch or lunch if you want a specific place.
  • Old Port has some great restaurants but also some really touristy ones. Hopefully the lists above help, so can a little googling.
  • There are lots of great restaurants spread across the city, in Griffintown, Mile End, Outremont, Plateau, Little Italy (Jean Talon Market area), and many of the best ones are neighborhood restos. Busses and metro are convenient and easy to use, and there is always taxi or Uber (there is no Lyft in Montreal). It is safe to say that Montrealers tend to go afield to eat, so do venture if you have the chance!
